AfroFuturist Weekend 10 Day 1: @ at The.BlkRoom | The Diaspora and Community Building.

In Partnership with Elastic Arts AfroFuturist Weekend and The Goodman Theater, we present short performances/presentations by participants in our Dark Matter Residency, plus an open community discussion on Diasporic Inclusion & Community Building curated by Lola Ogbara & Andres L. Hernandez of Two Halves, Dark Matter Residents, The.BlkRoom founder, and other artists.

Join Elastic Arts for their FREE Afrofuturist Weekend 10! This 5-day event kicks off on Wednesday, October 1st at The.BlkRoom (4015 W Carroll Ave), with performances from Elastic’s Dark Matter Residents, a panel discussion, a visual art installation, a DJ, and healthy food prepared by some of Elastic’s Dark Matter Residents. October 2-5 the celebration continues at Elastic Arts (3429 W Diversey Ave) with forward-looking music, art, and performance that envisions radically positive futures for Black people. Deploying new technologies, drawing upon history, and subverting/inverting exploitative hierarchies, Afrofuturism puts Black people at the center of narratives about the future.

There will be performances, visual art installations, video presentations, panel discussions, and immersive experiences meant to generate a call to action to realize these visions.

FREE AND OPEN TO ALL!
