Upcoming Events
At The.BlkRoom, we want to make sure we're extending each and every opportunity we can to our community. Expanding outside of our Membership Program, we open up the floor to allow everyone to express and showcase their amazing work and talent. Through our Community Outreach Initiatives, we promote a number of ways for Chicago-based Artists to actively participate in events and programs that align with their work and connect with other organizations and creatives inside and outside of our space.
Through our wide network of Black and Brown, POC-owned partner organizations, all outreach programs are geared towards the greater artistic community that needs access to a wider community of resources, support, and programs to help further their skills, experience, and network.

About ToocreativeHQ
Too CreativeGQ equips artists with the knowledge, tools, and access to turn their talent into lasting impact and sustainable income. We are too imaginative to be held back, too gifted to stay hidden, and too driven to give up. Through education, funding literacy, and strategic guidance, we help makers thrive- championing creativity as a force that can transform lives and the world.
This transformative program, facilitated by The.BlkRoom and generously sponsored by Angel Bat Dawid, is dedicated to empowering Black women artists. It provides access to TBR's creative space, a vibrant community, valuable resources, and an extensive network of mentorship opportunities. The residency encourages artists to explore their work through the unique lens of Black womanhood, fostering deep exploration of identity, creativity, and expression.
The goal of the residency isn’t just project completion—it's about cultivating a nurturing environment where Black female artists can truly thrive!
All proceeds of this event go to supporting the Bloom Residency Program as an extension of TBR
Our Special Guest Speaker - Henry Wishcamper
I am a theater artist, cultural planner, community developer, storyteller, arts advocate and strategic consultant. I have over 20 years of experience as a theater director, producer, playwright and non-profit administrator. I was an Artistic Associate and member of the Artistic Collective at the Goodman Theatre, where I directed seven seasons of their beloved holiday production of A Christmas Carol as well as numerous other productions, readings and workshops. I recently graduated from the Masters in Urban Planning and Policy program at the University of Illinois Chicago with a custom specialization in cultural planning. My primary academic focus was on the role that arts infrastructure and cultural programming in public spaces can play in generating equitable hyperlocal economic development in historically disinvested communities.
