TBR Event Pillars
What holds us up? — showcasing, educating, connecting, and recharging.
In addition to our Artist Membership Program, The.BlkRoom hosts an average of six events per month, curated by our team, members, and diverse partnerships. All of our events are free or available on a sliding scale, with the option to donate what you can.
Our events and programming are guided by four core pillars: showcasing, educating, connecting, and recharging. These pillars are essential for nurturing a vibrant BIPOC creative community, providing platforms for visibility, learning, collaboration, and wellness. They help us create programs that support artists holistically, empowering them to thrive both creatively and personally.
Explore our different pillars of events and programming, and join us at The.BlkRoom for a dynamic lineup of free events throughout the month!
Showcasing
Through strategic partnerships and unique showcase events, we aim to elevate and spotlight extraordinary emerging BIPOC artists in and around Chicago. Our growing platform serves as a space for artists to shine, whether through our Live DJ Showcases or by connecting them with our extensive network. We believe that fostering intentional exposure within the right creative communities cultivates meaningful collaborations with other venues, organizations, and artists.
Educating
As we expand our community, we are committed to providing opportunities for artists to enhance their skills and creative careers. Through initiatives like our innovative Tapped modular synthesis workshops, our internship program with ASPIRA and One Summer Chicago and a variety of engaging panel discussions, we ensure that our community has access to high-quality educational resources both online and in-person. We believe that fostering an environment of learning and sharing is essential for the growth of every artist and for the enrichment of our artistic ecosystem.
Connecting
Through our partnerships and special events, we actively cultivate opportunities for the BIPOC creative community to connect and collaborate. By joining forces with our valued partners and other innovative initiatives, we aim to foster a safe and inclusive space where like-minded creatives can network organically and share their talents.
Recharging
As we continue to explore the needs of our community, The.BlkRoom has become an active space to recharge and reflect through multiple wellness-based events and programs centered in the health and wellness of our larger creative BIPOC community. In partnership and through our membership programs, we hope to continue to provide wellness-based programming to our space.
